Nintendo Power promises surprises for Wii in next issue

The writers of NP seem to be hinting at some surprises for Wii that they plan to reveal in their next issue. Here's a quote from their current issue:
  • "No teases or sly hints about next month’s cover game, because we know how long many of you have been waiting for our big story on...

Harvest Moon: Ranch Store's first DLC pack

Harvest Moon: Ranch Store has already released in Japan and it's already getting its first pack of downloadable content. Marvelous has plans to issue more DLC packs on a monthly basis for 500 Wii Points each.

Analyst lists top 20 upcoming titles for Wii

A study was done recently which examined a series of upcoming titles for Wii and based on the current Wii audience, a level of purchase intent was calculated. Here were their Top 20 predictions for the upcoming year/2nd and 3rd quarter (based on what titles we know so far)...

Saturday Favourite: Youtube Street Fighter

"A Youtube video game in wich you can control your character by clicking one of the 4 buttons..."

The second of todays Saturday favourites. One more to go in a few hours...

News - Prince declined Activision's Guitar Hero offer

Apparently, Activision spoke with Prince at some point regarding Guitar Hero and they made him an offer in hopes of licensing his song maybe in a future game or as part of a downloadable pack. In any case, Prince declined their offer, and the reasons as to why is no less interesting. The reason behind his declining their offer has more to do with how he feels about the franchise as a whole than anything else.

News - Major Minor's Majestic March only sells 600 copies in Japan

Rough numbers suggest that Major Minor only sold an abysmal total of 600 copies in Japan during its first week! That's absolutely terrible. This was despite the fact that they had a special promotion running in Japan that had animated shorts based on the game air for a week.

News - Capcom has secret titles lined up for E3

We've known for quite some time now that Capcom is one of the developers for Wii that currently have secret projects in the works and according to their Twitter profile, two of these projects will be surfacing at E3!

Another Code R confirmed for EU release!

A (terrible) placeholder boxart has been recently issued further confirming that Another Code R will, indeed, be hitting Europe this year. The first confirmation of this was in Nintendo's last lineup of games that was compiled...

    Toribash - WiiWare development video

Toribash is quite close to completion. A video has been compiled showing off some animations from the game hopefully convincing viewers what the game is capable of as a WiiWare project. The developers assured me that the game's "blood" can be toggled freely, either with colours or simply with the familiar red depending on what one feels comfortable with. It would've been nice for them to include an option to take it off entirely just in case.

Blog: Will Red Steel 2 sell?

Core gamers have been looking out for games that they will enjoy rather than generic casual tat on the Wii, but so far, they have often been left disappointed. Games such as MadWorld and House of the Dead Overkill released earlier this year were certainly decent enough "hardcore" games, but many have been left thinking that it's all violence and no substance. Although they do have a point, the games were still great fun, but sold much less than they deserved.

    Saturday Favourite: Commodore 64 - 80's advert

"Here is an advert for the Commodore 64 from the 1980's. I think this was recorded in 1984 on betamax"

The first of todays three Saturday favourites

Daily Nintendo Favourite: The Original Human TETRIS Performance

"TETRIS played by real human-beings sitting in an auditorium: TETRIS is the 4th video performance of the GAME OVER Project, directed by the Swiss artist Guillaume REYMOND (NOTsoNOISY creative agency). This stop-motion video was shot and played for "LES URBAINES" festival http://www.urbaines.ch at the Palais de Rumine (Lausanne, Switzerland) on November 24th 2007."

Don't forget that tomorrow it's the weekend, so look out for three favourites throughout the day!
